One supposes that depends on whether the animal friendly Joseph was able to
simply disregard the dogs concerns without appearing to be a threat to their
pack leader (aka Carandolana) and fetch out a fistful of goodberries.
Sorry, Sean probably could have gotten to Carandolana through the pups, but it
didn't dawn on him that it would be a problem for anyone, and he has this
tendency to get rather single-minded in his combat related tasks. A perceptive
observer would have noticed that when he barks out instruction in such
circumstances, he isn't singing or humming or any of the other things he does
subconsciously to channel nerves.
Sean will apologize to Ahearn for defenestrating the half orc, but will
nonetheless stand by his decision. But for the urgency (in his mind, in any
case) of tracking the half-orc's compatriots, Sean was sort of hoping to employ
his interrogation technique on the not-so-wee beastie. Which probably means
the urgency saved Sean's rangerhood from his intemperance. Though Sean would
have made an impassioned defense of his status in closing arguments.

Sean saw her training them, though only in war tactics. Ahearn might have seen
her training down at the stables, but I don't know how much he was down there.
But she uses mostly standard commands and hand signals. (She also uses leash
triggers, but nobody's going to get a leash on these two dogs any time before
she's up again) And BTW, before the display at the caves only Sean and Holly
knew about her shifting ability. Of course Holly found out first.
I'm hoping she wakes up about the same time as Ahearn, because I'd like him to
be able to hear her first comment.

Sean gets his first arrow off. Then Maximus whacks Joseph
twice. Joseph will score a hit on Maximus. Sean's next two arrows miss as he
was trying not to hit the gnomish horde around the Dwarf entering the fray.
Hagar hits once. Manrug will hit once as well. Maximus took his next swings at
Kelbis hitting once and then dropping one end of this halbred. He quickly
recovers it but will go later next round.
Round 4
The party will lose initiative and Hagar will take 34 HPs
of damage from Maximus on three hits. Hagar and Kelbis will each hit Maximus
once. Sean will miss three times. Joseph will also miss. Manrug and Calji each
miss as well. The dogs are whimpering.
As the round ends, Elmore casts his hold person and Maximus
Largeskull seems to stop moving.
