Sent -- Heat Metal. What did Splinter Wood (not Warp Wood) do to the staff? If
luck is with the group, it turned into a flying wave of splinters.
3rd level spell
A step beyond warp wood, this spell causes one wooden object to explode
violently into thousands of splinters. The druid can affect up to one spear
shaft worth of wood per level (one axe handle, seven arrow shafts, or 7 lbs. of
wood are equivalent to one spear shaft). Targets to be affected gain a saving
throw vs. crushing blow at 1 for every two levels of the druid (see the DMG,
page 80; magical items gain bonuses as noted therein). Any creature within 2
plus 1 per 20 lbs. of the splintered object will be struck by the splinters.
The splinters cause 1 hp damage per 7 lbs. of the object, so a spear shaft
would cause 1 hp damage to any creature holding it or within 2 . Damage caused
by the splinters is reduced by a value equal to the armor class of the target
subtracted from 10. Thus, a victim with AC 1 would be protected from (10 ( 1) =
) 11 hp damage. A victim s dexterity is reduced by 1 point for every 5 hp
damage done by this spell until such time as all splinters are removed, which
takes one round per 1 hp damage done. Splinters doing less than 5 hp damage
need not be removed. Additionally, victims who are wearing no great helms or
eye protection have a 5% chance per 1 hp damage done by the spell (calculated
before armor-class reductions are made) of being blinded for 2rounds.

DM Note - Paladins can be nearly as judgemental as cats, but they tend
to be nicer about it.
Myndur Iuzrid smiles through rotten teeth, "Welcome to your deaths. You
look like you will be useful servants in my future lives. Maak Weerlig!" A bolt
of golden-yellow lightning cracks forth from Myndur. Ahearn and Sean are grazed
taking 13 HPs each. Hagar and Cara each take 26HPs, Elmore takes 13HP of
lightning damage. Elmore seems to destroy six of the ten skeletons as they turn
into powder under the power of Artor. (Since Elmore was successful, he can try
to destroy the last four next round). They will be attacking him and Cara.
Ahearn, now with Ozor's mummy braclet in his backpack, gets to Myndur
as he jumps from his crypt and parries most of his swings. Ahearn only connects
once. Avoiding a direct hit from the lightning bolt seems to have disrupted
Sean as well who only connects once with a silver arrow. Hagar, smelling of
burnt hair and having a singed beard, is having none of it. He strikes Myndur
twice. Myndur calls out "You should surrender and serve me. I can gift you
infernal life and treasures beyond your dreams. Though in fairness, dwarves do
know how to dream about treasure."
Cara will cast warp wood on the staff (I am assuming that is the
target). Holly, Xander, and Johnny Mac can enter to engage the skeletons or
continue to watch the rear, etc.
