Bank of the West’s Capital Management department is seeking a
technical writer. The Capital Management team is responsible for
managing the bank’s capital planning process, including the
organization’s governance, risk, capital, and liquidity strategies,
and for regulatory submissions, including the CCAR (Comprehensive
Capital Analysis and Review, administered by the Federal Reserve) and
DFAST (Dodd-Frank Act Stress Test, administered by the FDIC)
stress-test exercises. The purpose of the CCAR and DFAST capital
adequacy stress-testing programs is to ensure that financial
institutions have robust, forward-looking capital planning processes
in place that account for their unique risks and to ensure that
institutions have sufficient capital to continue operations through
times of economic and financial stress. The Capital Management team
also oversees the CCAR Program Management Office (PMO). The Capital
Management team is a strategic group, where we look to control costs
and strengthen our decision-making processes.


Essential Job Functions

The successful candidate will have sufficient technical background to
manage complex writing and documentation projects to the highest
standards and tight timelines. In addition, this candidate will have
experience in creating and presenting high-level summaries for senior
executives and regulators. The incumbent will support CCAR program
initiatives across all CCAR workstreams, including Finance, Risk,
Treasury, and the institution’s lines of business. These initiatives
will include advising key stakeholders and teams on key governance
deliverables and artifacts and ensuring they feed into the overall
governance framework. The incumbent will have expertise in process
engineering and process flows, program communications support,
corporate messaging, and change management messaging, all of which
require that the incumbent be a skilled writer with sufficient grammar
skills and a thorough command of the AP Stylebook. The incumbent will
ensure that a framework is in place for ensuring that the program
maintains high-quality documentation that is effectively controlled.
Specifically, the incumbent will:

· Perform complex technical writing assignments for
fast-moving, time-sensitive initiatives

· Own Wdesk, the cloud-based enterprise collaboration platform
by Workiva Inc. (Wdesk includes proprietary word processing,
spreadsheet, and presentation applications offering enterprise
permissions and an audit trail)

· Use Excel to create graphs, thoughtfully finding the best
way to present data to executive audiences

· Produce executive presentations; develop communications
plans; provide consultative feedback to senior leaders on branding,
identity, and messaging; manage stakeholder relationships; and use an
innovative array of communications vehicles to drive change strategies

· Identify, plan, and develop effective content for PowerPoint
presentations, newsletters, reports, memoranda, and email
communications for a wide range of internal audiences, including
executive leadership, governance committees, the board of directors,
and broader employee populations

· Have excellent research and analytical skills, including the
ability to perform simple mathematical calculations or analyses and
accurately proofread documents

· Maintain the central repository of documentation on SharePoint

· Prepare materials necessary for review by management or line
of business partners prior to approval

· Have effective interpersonal skills, proficiency at
prioritization, proven experience with managing multiple tasks
simultaneously, the ability to operate under scheduled deadlines, and
the ability to work cooperatively with team members

· Understand the deliverables of PMO clients and contribute to
the success of the CCAR program by building cooperative and collegial
relationships and processes



Qualifications

· Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field, Master’s Degree
or CPA/CFA preferred

· 3+ years of functional/professional experience in
banking/financial services industry preferred

· Understanding of quantitative methods and tools supporting
credit risk measurement preferred

· Proficiency interpreting statistical information and the
ability to translate data to support written statements

· Knowledge of stress testing and regulatory requirement for
banking industry is a plus

· Excellent communication skills, both verbal and writing

· Ability to work well with others in a dynamic, team-oriented
environment
