I just had the thought, what if the recent discovery of oil in Syria is the
thing that will cause all these ancient prophesies to be fulfilled? It provides
the motivation for the events that were prophesied to take place.
The Bible says that Damascus will be completely destroyed and left devoid of
people. The only thing that could do this is a nuclear weapon.
"This message came to me concerning Damascus: 'Look, Damascus will disappear!
It will become a heap of ruins. The cities of Aroer will be deserted. Sheep
will graze in the streets and lie down unafraid. There will be no one to chase
them away. The fortified cities of Israel will also be destroyed, and the power
of Damascus will end. The few left in Aram will share the fate of Israel's

I was surprised to see mention of oil in the Golan Heights.
Here, I always thought the only interest in the area was the security of
Israel. (The G/H overlook the land of Israel).
I never thought the Israeli Army fought off Syrian tanks so they could
prospect for oil. Does Syria have any oil production ?
