Today's site offers a convenient way to learn if a website is up and running

Although this is not the only website checker online, the inclusion of a
sidebar with the Latest Checks Made, a list of sites in the Down Right Now
section, and a Recent Comments section raise its usefulness above a simple yes
or no response. The main window reports the ongoing status of close to forty
major sites -- Facebook, Amazon, and Netflix among them -- because even these
prominent sites have been known to experience difficulties. Even more valuable,
however, can be the helpful user suggestions when trying to follow a breadcrumb
trail to a new location for an obscure site which has apparently vanished.
