Today's site from the clever folks at Bored Panda offers a fascinating
collection of oddities rounded-up from Reddit. Gentle Subscribers will find an
eye-opening motley of difficult to identify objects designed to pique their
curiosity.
"All things have a purpose and function. However, some objects are so peculiar,
so strange, and so weird that it takes amateur detectives and internet
occultists to decipher their meaning. The 'What Is This Thing' subreddit is a
treasure trove of everyday artifacts whose purpose was lost to the world --
until Reddit's resident Sherlock Holmeses took a look at them and explained
exactly what people were looking at." - from the website
Straightforward photos display the objects as clearly as possible in this
assortment of unusual items. Although most of these are man made, some do come
from the natural world -- hence the Cautionary Note. From typical but now
obscure 19th century curios to 21st century cutting edge tech, many of these
puzzling articles would generally be unidentifiable to those without
specialized knowledge. This does not, however, preclude the interest most would
have in finding out what the heck they are.
