Title: Postdoctoral Associate Department: Environmental Studies Salary: $40,000 Duration: 1 year, possible extension The Research Foundation for State University of New York, College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY ESF) is seeking outstanding applicants for the position of postdoctoral researcher to work on the human dimensions of coastal management, and with specific focus on post-Sandy evacuation issues. The position is funded by a grant (Sea Grant); the person hired will work closely with principal investigator Dr. Sharon Moran (SUNY ESF) and coordinate with other research team members. Brief Description of Duties: * Interview key informants, revise research plans, draft surveys, and conduct focus groups * Assemble information from multiple sources, conduct literature reviews, and analyze data gathered * Write up project findings, draft proposals, prepare manuscripts for publication, develop outreach materials, and complete training modules. Interact with various project participants, complete project tracking reports, and track budget expenditures * Travel to regional meetings with collaborators, conferences, and field sites (NYC metropolitan area) Minimum qualifications: * Doctoral degree (Ph.D. completed); in geography, public health, sociology, environmental studies, anthropology, psychology, or a related field * Experience in using qualitative research methods including surveys * Publications and/or experience in preparing manuscripts for publication * Excellent time management, interpersonal, and collaborative skills Preferred Qualifications: * Knowledge of one or more relevant fields: environmental management, disability studies, coastal hazards, and risk perception and management * Experience in developing and completing scholarly research projects Date to Be Filled: ASAP.
