Oh thanks Louise!

im off to the op shop to find a suitable bake-able pot! how long does it take you to oven melt it? Why do you use coconut milk? And do you just use the same amount as you would water- to melt it? After you have your melted soap - have u tryed using a stick blender? or do you think that would make matters worse with bubbles and what not....
And yes i have tryed a few recipes and usually use about 45% olive oil 35%coconut maybe 15 palm and small amount of castor oil etc etc

thanks for sharing!

Oh and I am really looking forward to this soap swap- i have bought my self addressed bag all ready ! im so excited about getting everyone elses creations...forget making my soap!!

Also longer curing can make a 95% olive oil bar very hard....

It all depends on the ratios of your solid oils and liquid oils.  Coconut and palm make a bar harder (esp coconut) and adding castor does wonders

Yes good question,i have been grating the soap but i find it all glues togethor into a hard mass anyway. I love the smoothness of cold process soap but i find my stuff is quite soft and doesnt last as long as my handmilled (attempts :p  ........)

I have never rebatched so I would be keen to know the answer to this one.  Did you grate the soap?

Hi All

I wast just wondering if someone can shed some light on melting a batch of cold prosses soap , in order to add scent etc...
Its just, i have tryed about 4 or 5 times and i cant get it to melt into a smooth mix!
I use a recipe using high percentage of cocnut oils and olive oils and also palm oil. IT wont melt- it takes ALL day (and night) and its still hard and chunky and bubbly ( i find i have to gradually keep adding water and its a mess! im sure there is amuch much better way..) I have been doing lots of reading trying to get around this problem buti still havent cracked it....
I tryed double boiling-(a bowl over a pot of boilng water, and directly in the pot over a moderate heat- sort of simmering...)
Ah and should i stick blend it or will this cause to much bubbles?... i have just been using a wooden spoon)
i would really appreciate some advice

thanks very much

Rosie :)
