Instead of /var/log/pkgtools/packages please read /var/lib/pkgtools/packages.

You can check this looking at the top of these ChangeLogs:
https://slackware.uk/slint/x86_64/slint-15.0/ChangeLog.txt
https://slackware.uk/salix/x86_64/slackware-15.0/ChangeLog.txt
and comparing the versions of of the most recently updated packages marked
"Upgraded" with the versions of the installed packages, listed in the
directory
/var/log/pkgtools/packages.
