Frank's second appearance on the show. He was a guest on the 5-12-48
show. and sang "I've Got A Crush On You."
The second and final Duffy's had Frank stopping in to resolve a disagreement
with Archie the bartender. Duffy was the owner but only made one appearance
during the show's long run. Archie and Frank worked out their differences
and
apologies all around called for drinks and some bar chat. There is a
discussion
of Hoboken and Frank's Hit Parade show. Miss Duffy ( Duffy's daughter ) asks

Frank to sing a song. He obliges with "Every Day I Love You( Just A Little
Bit More)."
The song had already been on the Hit Parade for two weeks without Frank
singing it.
He would do it that Saturday night, 10-23, and again on 11-20. Archie was
working on
his interpretation of "Barber of Seville." Frank helps run it down and does
a little singing,
very little. There is a little more bar talk and then Frank departs.
Duffy's eighth season premiere( 10-1-47 ) listed Crosby, Sinatra and Hope as
the guests.
The listener received an early Halloween trick when they turned out to be
Larry Crosby,
Ray Sinatra and Jim Hope.

Frank's Bally engagement was from October 19 thru the 22.
Three of the Vegas resorts, including Bally's and Caesars,
were struck by musicians in a dispute over guaranteed
pay and the use of taped music. On Monday (16), Sinatra
issued a statement supporting the musicians and announced
he would not cross the picket lines if the strike was not settled
by Thursday (19). It was not and Sinatra cancelled. Former President
Ronald Reagan refused to honor the musicians request and gave a
speech to car-rental executives on the 18th at Caesars. Frank's
appearance was rescheduled for November 16-19.  The strike
continued and Frank was a no-show. But he did announce in
late November that his two scheduled appearances in December
( 4-9 and 26-31) would take place. In his released statement, Frank
said, "The holiday season is here and it's time for everyone to get
back to work." Strike was not settled and Frank canceled the early
December dates. In another statement, he gave this explanation:
"A settlement of the strike is near and I don't want to interfere in the
negotiations." Bally's retaliated by cancelling the scheduled
engagement closing out the old year. Then they fired him.
Bally's quickly realized they had overreacted and Frank, with the
strike settled, opened at Bally's on March 8 for a four day engagement.
