Dan,

Mea culpa. I actually didn't find anything at all about expressions. However
the actual references to the "Windows" key in the milestone.doc is found:

When navigating in the score, information can be retrieved about selected
items, the current staff or the score in general. Information is also
readily available about the transport controls. In brief, the keystrokes
are organised so that one key represents an entire group of information, and
modifiers are added to retrieve a specific piece of information from that
group. For instance, all the keystrokes with F5 are used to speak the
properties of the selected item in the score. In brief, the keystrokes are
organised as follows:

F1 = help, Access options and verbosity.

F2 = information about staves and items which effect the system.

F3 = information about nearby items on the staff which are not selected.

F5 = information about the current item only.

F6 = rhythmic position of selected item or playback line.

F7 = metronome and playback tempo.

Windows = live playback properties

[ or ] = the playback metronome

Windows = playback properties of the selected item.

...and also in this section:

general. Some of these will simply speak messages, but others will open
dialogs or other windows. They have been created with a definite pattern in
mind. The full list is as follows:

JAWS+F1: screen sensitive help.

JAWS+F1 twice: Open Sibelius Access documentation in the default browser.

...

f5: describe the current object or selection with written pitches.

Ctrl+F5: say sounding pitches of chord or note.

Shift+F5: Say written pitch of selected note in chord.

Control+Shift+F5: Say sounding pitch of selected pitch in chord.

Alt + Control + F5: Say coordinates of selected item.

Alt + F5: open list of live playback options.

Windows + F5: Say playback position.

Control + Windows + F5: Say playback duration of selected item.

Shift + Windows + F5: Say velocity of selected item.

...

...and

The playback pain of the properties window is not natively accessible.
Mouse simulation could be used, but this is extremely time consuming. Also,
which controls are active changes and detecting this is not easy for the end
user. A work around is provided which works as follows:

Choose "Playback Properties" from the Alt+F1 menu or hit Windows+P.

The list shows all active controls with there values.

menu

Uh, I don't think there is any documentation about opening the menus in text
fields. At least there wasn't when release 1 went out. If you've found a
passage in which I said Windows key and clearly meant application key then
let me know so that I can give myself a good hard kick.

As an aside, I would never script the windows key on its own for anything.
The start menu is a fairly fundamental part of, well, Windows and
overwriting it would be pritty stupid.

I freely admit though that the milestone document makes a bit of a dog's
breakfast out of describing keystrokes which do involve the windows key. My
bad! Rest assured, this is being amended.

menu

Kevin,

You are actually correct. The Windows key (to the right of the Alt key on
U.S. keyboards) is indeed not the correct key. The correct key is actually
called the "Applications" key and is two to the right of the Alt key on U.S.

keyboards.

And yes, there is another windows key off to the left, as well, but I don't
use it much. On the U.S. keyboard there is only one "Application" key two
keys right of the right-hand Alt key.

I just did this myself and duplicated your original problem.

Dan, the documentation needs to be corrected to "Application" key and not
"Windows" key.

Dan,
I'm in a brass quintet and, for some reason, when I press CTRL E for
Expression and then press the windows key to bring the menu up, I get the
start menu instead. I have to activate the expressions menu using my mouse
by hand.
Why?
It wasn't this way a few hours ago.
