MIDI input is not active in SP by default.
From the airline help.
You can record, insert, and edit notes with a MIDI keyboard. To enable this
feature, go to the Tracks menu > Playback > MIDI/Recording Options > MIDI
Connections, and turn the switch labeled 'Allow MIDI In'.
Plug-in any Core MIDI compatible keyboard or similar device using an iPhone USB
adapter. An alert will show that indicates that a device has been detected. Tap
confirm to enable the device. Doing so will override the virtual keyboard. You
will then be able to record, insert, and edit notes just like you are able to
with the on-screen keyboard.

keyboard you are connecting and what iOS device you are connecting it to and
what other apps you are using that "work. "
