Annabel, A couple ideas: 1. Ad a second voice to your score, and break all the rests into 16th rests. Use these to anchor your hidden controller messages. Then hide that voice. 2. If you only need to do this in a few places then change the previous note/rest duration to leave a 16th rest at the end of a bar. Then add the hidden controller message. Then change that note back to its original value. I think the control message will stay in place. By the way, how would I fix it so it's at exactly one sixteenth note before the next measure? -----Original Message----- From: sib-access-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:sib-access-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Dave Carlson Sent: Monday, June 07, 2010 9:43 PM To: sib-access@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [sib-access] Re: Pedal Lines Further to this discussion, if the resultant performance of Sibelius is important enough, then you would likely want to add controller messages using technique text in the score. Hide them so they don't show in a printout. For example ~Cxx,0 would be off and ~Cxx,127 would be on. Don't know the XX value for pedal, but I'm sure you will. It's more important that the parts look right to the sighted person who will eventually read the printed score. Again, this is a visual trick and you should enlist the aid of a knowledgeable sighted person to make sure your part looks correct. The sound is less important in this case. When I attempt to put pedal lines in a score of piano music, it seems to play the notes as if the pedal were pressed down the whole time, rather than going down, then up, then down again. I've tried Pedal Line, Pedal and Star, Pedal Line and Lift, all of which come from the lines menu, but I get the same result each time. What do I do? Is there a specific way that I'm supposed to notate pedaling for piano music? If you have any further information or questions for me, please feel free to Email me at any time, as I check my Emails several times each day.
