I believe it was just an alpha character that was amongst the
ones unused as keywords for Hspice elements. They needed a name
for a new element and just chose one of the alpha designators
unused at that time. No special significance as far as I know.

Perhaps Dmitri can tell us the real story is he is still on the list.
