Tim,

In SPICE each kind of element has a specific letter. R is a resistor, C is a
capacitor, etc. When Avant! implemented the coupled lossy line model in
HSPICE, they chose to use the letter W to indicate the coupled lossy line
element. Most of the other letters were already used to specify other types of
elements.

This always reminds of the day that I found out that ski-doo was a brand of
snowmobile and not a type of vehicle :) In Portugal, few people use the word
for vacuum cleaner. It's just a "Hoover".

Later,
Weston

Subject: [SI-LIST] W-element

Hi all SI experts,

I have a dumb to ask. I have been using W-element model from long time, but
never known what the "W" stands for?
Can anyone explain to me why multi-xline model is called W-element? Where is
the term extract from?

Thanks,
Tim
