The "appunsub" command is used to confirm that you want to unsubscribe.
Assuming that you entered it correctly (all on one line rather than
two), it looks like your outgoing mail is splitting the line into two
lines, so the "cookie" isn't where it should be.
Some listservers have a way to indicate that multiple lines are supposed
to be concatenated. I don't know if/how you do that with freelists.org.
When all else fails, try sending mail to staff@xxxxxxxxxxxxx, or to Ray
Anderson, who owns the list.
