The use guide and tutorials that are there when you install the software
will get you started. The tutorials are not obvious to find but you will see
some in the allprograms/cadence/vxx.x menu from your start button. 

One of the most difficult things for a newbie to Cadence SI is understanding
the libraries and that you have to translate ibis to dml which is discussed
in the manuals. You can do basic SI using SigXP but at board level you have
to understand a lot more of how Cadence works.

You can also contact your local Cadence FAE for some advice.
