I think that asking a software vendor for a proof that software is actually
works useful is the worst case scenario :-)
Seriously, practically all EDA vendors now use Wild Rivers's CMP-28 to
"proof" that the analysis correlates with the measurements. If they say it
works why bother? But, what does it take to have such correlation? Can it be
easily repeated on a range of structures? Is there a system-level approach
that guarantees the analysis to measurement correlation? Not just trust -
hands on experience on a range of structures with validated measurements is
very important to do. - I wrote about it in the "Sink or swip" app note
#2014_05 at http://www.simberian.com/AppNotes.php ;
Technically, I can easily "calibrate" free SPICE to match the analysis
results to measured S-parameters for any test structure on CMP-28. But, does
it qualify SPICE to be a signal integrity tool? It is easy to capture the
electrical behavior if the result is known. A blind mapping from the
physical design into the electrical behavior is what usually requires the
advanced modeling and not all tools can do it. The benchmark boards
available to anyone enable the blind validation process for the tools end
users.

Hi All,
I'm a graduate engineer with some experience in RF PA design and currently
trying to explore SI simulators for high speed digital, preferably using
ADS, as the learning curve won't be as steep.
I'm looking for some ideas for a project to test ADS's new SIPI Pro
simulator. However, I'm still new to and learning about the HSD world, so
nothing too complicated :)
I essentially want to have two PCB designs; one designed with high-speed
digital guidelines in mind, and the other without. Then fabricate the
design after the simulation to compare the results.
