Those settings indicate which IBIS V/T curve you will use in the sim.
A setting of 0 means you will just use the ramp data (and get a trapezoidal
output wave).
A setting of 1 means you will use the first V/T curve that exists in the
model.
A setting of 2 means you will use two V/T curves (both extracted with
different test fixtures) in the sim, provided there are 2 V/T curves in the
IBIS model for that buffer.

Even the HSpice manual recommends checking your simulated curves with the
ramp_rwf and _fwf set to 2 against simulated curves with these set to 1 or 0
to ensure the curves do not have gross inconsistencies or inaccuracies.

Subject: [SI-LIST] IBIS model ramp option

Hello,

In the HSpice implementation of an output buffer, there is a optional
statement ramp_rwf=0,1,2 and ramp_fwf=0,1,2. Could someone explain the
difference between the settings. When is it appropriate to use 1 or 2
instead of the default? My understanding is that these statements along
with the "tune" statement are used to get the IBIS outputs to match up to
the SPICE based output. Is this correct.

If you receive a buffer with minimal documentation and no spice output to
compare it to, is it proper to use the default value, or should you set the
ramp to 2 and let Hspice defauslt to the highest level supported?

Thanks,

John Ellis
