Differences where they occur are model specific.  Different dialects of 
SPICE have different features, for instance some have a frequency 
keyword that can be useful in AC analysis for things like skin effect.  
The choice of HSPICE is usually a matter of supplier / customer 
relationship.  Encrypted HSPICE is the accepted standard, like it or not 
for IC I/O models.
