Joel, You can reduce the capacitor value even more (maybe 1/1000 nominal) and find the average capacitor voltage much faster. Notice that the voltage changes during every transition, so the best you can do is specify a starting voltage that is the average of the voltage over a few periods after it has mostly settled.
