the akc rule is that the standard is determined by the country of origin. in
1968 germany disqualified whites. the white shepherd in this country could
become a variety like they do with color in cocker spaniels. if they became a
variety then they could compete at our nationals in their own classes. i went
to the dachshund national and they had three separate shows one for each
variety. smooth long coat and wire haired.think about it. this would make both
varieties eligible for all titles. please do not jump to immediate screaming
conclusions
