This town has gone from a "rural" area that wanted large breeds to a up
class area where no fences are allowed and both parents work full time -
Dad owns a title insurance business which has been absolutely nuts with
people trying to re-fi out of the nonsensical mortgages that were popular
recently (adjustable, balloons, interest only). If you've noticed the
foreclosure
rates on sub-prime mortgages, and stop to consider the impact of tighter
lending requirements across the board, it isn't a leap to then worry about the
impact on middle and upper-middle class homeowners who have been counting on
home prices going up to re-fi, now living paycheck to paycheck and being
unable
to get out of the junk mortgages they agreed to in order to get into "too
much" house in the first place. Guess what? That's the companion puppy
market
(and the show entries and all of it). Disposable income is down and prices
for puppies and participation in some dog sports will follow.
