Kathy, truer words were never spoken! I never get out of my vet's office for
less than $300! I really do know that their equipment is as expensive and the
same as human, but it really is amazing. I have had a bad run the past several
months and joke with the staff that I have almost finished paying for the new
wing to be dedeicated in my honor.....they laugh right back and say, no, not
until you pay for the docs new Escalade! Cynthia

I'll tell you what makes me wonder...the vet care available today and the

I've done the repro stuff and didn't really blink. I mean, you're hoping for
a litter of puppies, so what they hey? I can justify it.
I was in for several shocks in August. I had something comparatively minor
(wart like "thing" removed, biopsy negative, THANK GOD!) but my dog had his
own "surgical suite" and his own "anesthesiologists". Now, don't get me wrong,
I wanted "the best", and I'm happy to pay and delighted w/ their services,
but while waiting for him to get his bandage changed through the weeks he had
to go back, it was hard NOT to overhear some of the charges. Multiple,
multiple thousands of dollars, people max-ing out several credit cards in the
waiting room, or walking outside w/ cell phones for a little privacy to call
friends and relatives for THEIR credit card numbers. Joints repaired/replaced,
disks fused on dogs that I would be afraid would be too old for anesthesia.
And the dental specialist...my GOD! The bills people rang up to have their
pets teeth cleaned! (I had my nose in a magazine on several occasions thinking
for less than 1/2 that, I'll teach that "sob" to lay down, behave and have
it's teeth cleaned!) ...then the follow up meds; hundreds of dollars a month.
It's amazing the medical care that's available and what people will pay for
the same. I'm guilty. I remember 5 years ago having a nuclear blood test
done on a bitch I'd bought to diagnose an immune problem. It was sent onto not
one but two university histology labs (so we could verify the results, don't
'ya know?) Didn't know there was such a test and all in a last ditch effort
to diagnose a disease I'd previously never heard of.
I'm glad the vet care and technology is out there, but August was a real eye
opener. The cost of food pales in comparison!
