The German Shepherd Dog is a WORKING HERDING BREED! WHY would
we want to break into 'color divisions'??
What POSSIBLE improvement or betterment for the Breed would
dividing them by color classes serve???
This Breed deserves more than "leveling the playing field"...
Blacks did not win in the ring many years ago because of their
quality...not because of their color. There was a time it was
hard to find a good black. That is no longer the case!

on a related note...
If we as the GSDCA pushed hard enough, coat colours could be divided by
variety For AKC. Having varieties for say, whites, blacks & AOC (all other
colours) would surely be well received by both exhibitors & judges alike. As
it now happens that a nice solid (black) can occasionally win in the breed
ring today-- where in years' past one would hardly even bothered to show (a
black) cuz it was a waste of time, money & effort that would never have
gotten a second look... Getting placed as a variety would make for an even
playing field- for all colours and the whites as well; would it not? Not to
mention the economic viability for the club through support by entries,
memberships, etc...
Jen P & the Pack not interested in the politics; but in the health, genetic
diversity & preservation of the great breed I must have been born to love-
even sharing my birthdate with the creation/anniversary date of the GSD :)
