Not some of the specialty dogs I've seen winning with spooky temperaments, locked hocks, dead tails, dragging toes, and lofting fronts. Then again, there are some specialty judges who still somehow believe that lofting in front and kicking up behind equals "suspension", and a spooky temperament is just being "aloof". I probably should have said most, not all. But, I stand behind what I said. In the Specialty rings today most of what you see is identifiable as a shepherd. You may not like what the judge picks, but there is little being shown in the specialty ring that is not clearly a German shepherd. If you have a quality dog, you will always win under a quality judge. However, as Fred pointed out, when a judge who breeds chiuahas get a license to judge a shepherd, how much can we expect?
