I love Kris Fasano's comments. I hope people don't take it badly when Ann and
I don't clap for dogs (including friends' or dogs we really like) because we
take that AKC edict on judges not clapping seriously. (I believe we were
reminded during groups once "Never mind that you put the dog up!"). I also
don't
think clapping has ever affected us, although I have seen it when judges aren't
confident in their knowledge about the breed.
In terms of going under judges who have liked your dog: I remember one snowy
winter in Cleveland (at the old Municipal Convention Center) when five of us
showed up with the dogs the judge had given major reserves to. Bart won out
of the Bred-by Class and the rest of us were literally left out in the cold.
BTW I think all of the dogs eventually finished.
