What ever happened to the Photographers who send out proofs so that you may
choose your own shot? I don't know about anybody else, but I am quite capable
of making my own decision as to what shot of my dog is the best one.
I just got pics in the mail from a BOB at a speciaty. Two pictures, same bad
shot!
I was in the right mood, so I call and asked if he took any more shots. The
answer was yes and didn't I like the one he sent? I guess if I liked it, I
wouldn't have asked for the others...anyway I told him the set-up was off. He
told me I must be looking for something different than he looks for. Well, dah,
what does anybody look for and if he doesn't know, what in the world is he
doing taking pics at a dog show? He primarily looks at the head. He wants to
make sure the head and ears are not blending into the background...as I look at
the pic and I can't see my dog's ears! AND he wants to charge $34.00 for the
print!!!! Even worse, he sent a slip of paper advertising his other business
as an Identity theft something or other.
Specialty clubs, PLEASE don't hire somebody just because they have a camera. I
have a camera, that's pretty scary! OMG...Oak Smith has a camera!!!! Even
worse.
Something we don't always think about when hiring a Photographer, they not only
have to be on the ball, they have to know a little about structure to know if
the dog looks good or not. Otherwise, I could take my own for free and I would
have nobody to be annoyed at. I AM annoyed.
