"I approach the whole thing from a Mother Nature prospective...what does she
  feed her animals?"

( With good humor, and I thought raw diet wasn't scheduled until first day of
spring?)
Mother nature doesn't feed my dogs, nor has she fed the domesticated dog for,
what now, 10,000-20,000 years?
So I don't try to feed my dogs like a wolf, coyote, jackal, etc. (I did 10
years ago.) Anything my dogs get as a snack from mother nature usually leads to
a problem i.e. crickets = tapeworms, mice, moles and voles = fleas and
tapeworms <BG>

However, It's the HUMAN health risks from contaminated dog feces that make
me crazy, infecting human habitat with more of these killer parasites.

Plus, until the middle of the last century, from the moment the domesticated
dog walked in from the wild and sat down to dinner with man, it has lived on a
diet of whatever the master had leftover from the dinner table! Scraps of
bread, cooked meats, vegetables, potatos, big soup bones, whatever was getting
tossed.

Medical breakthrough, not raw food diets, saved the dog from the ravages of
distemper, rabies, worms, parvo, parainfluenza, corona, lepto, giardia,
coccidiae, all of which still abound in the wild animal population.

Knowledge of food handling and thorough cooking keeps living e.coli,
salmonella, liver flukes etc. from wreaking havoc on pups, old dogs and dogs in
less than good health (these cautions are on all the raw sites, not just my
mouth), plus it stops the dog from eliminating and contaminating the ground
with living organisms where humans live, walk, play.

  So, as a
"cook-your-food-thoroughly-and-wash-your-hands-completely-after-everything-you-do-in-life-took-one-too-many-culture-
this" person, I also cannot be converted.
