I can assure you I do NOT support moving Fut/Mat finals to Tuesday.
The membership loves Futurity/Maturity finals. It is a favorite class for
many.
It will hurt The Regional Tuesday show. Exhibitors will now just come for
judging Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Having an entire day for
education in between will hurt entries.
Puppy Classes will now have to be moved to Thursday morning; which will
make an incredibly long day.
Many members have already made plans. Reservations, request for time off,
budgeting. Adding another 1-2 days expenses is not fair. It will also add
to the cost for judges rooms, food, etc.
Education is wonderful at a Regional or local level. We also can have
online education via GSDCA website. Many do not want to spend the National
week attending lectures. I think the Chili Cook Off last year proved
members want to have fun.
The Fut/Mat IS an educational event. Showcases regions, breeders, sires,
and dams.
The membership was NEVER asked what subjects would interest them. The
membership was never asked if dedicating an entire day to education was a
"want."
Prior membership polls have clearly shows the MEMBERSHIP thinks The
National is too long. Gail has done an excellent job shortening the days
and giving us time to relax and have get together's after judging. We wan
to spend time with friends from across the county; not sit our butts in
chairs a full day!

So, unless you are wanting to get involved in the educational programs,
there would be a full down day in the middle of the week.
Personally, I think there would be fewer show up to support the
futurity/maturity program. Many would end up not coming in until
Wed night which would cut some revenue down for the hotels and area.
Thoughts? Me, am not for this and may shoot a quick message off to the
board prior to the meeting.
