[ SHOWGSD-L ] mentally what??

I have been reading the thread regarding mental retardation, and perhaps having
humans breed toward perfection. I have a very difficult time with this kind of
thought. What, exactly is perfection to each of us? I would imagine we would
find the perfect definition of the perfect breeding pair of humans would and
should be different in each of our minds.
I am not sure that each person should be a genius, after all what would the
world do with all geniuses??
I would think that perfection in character would be a grand and wonderful
thing, but where in the scheme of things would this fall? We would each be able
to find a listing of characterizations which suited our own fancy, but would
yours and mine agree?? I hope not.
I am sure I could tell you my vision of the ideal face and body structure that
I would find to be perfection itself. But would you agree with my vision?? I am
sure not.
And should each of us be perfect? Then perhaps we would sit around looking
gorgeous and thinking wonderful thoughts. Would we ever accomplish anything?
Probably not.
The combination of all of the various people on this earth makes us who we are
as a population. We all are good and bad. Let us not attempt to make everyone
just like me...what a bore that would be!
