This is anecdotal, not scientific, but, I have had luck using Milk Thistle as a
supplement when liver function tests have been off. It has helped (or so it
seems) with dogs undergoing chemotherapy, suffering from Cushing's, and now,
for my own health problems. Not expensive and no bad side effects. Hope
springs eternal!!

I just had a call from someone with a 6 year old male shepherd that has liver
problems. Apparently his protein level is so high that it is off the chart.
They are feeding him a Hills diet for the liver but would like to be able to
make a home diet for him. I did suggest that perhaps they could do some home
diet and mix it with the Hills, He is having seizures as a result of the high
protein count and is therefore on pheno barbital. He has seizures every two
weeks or so but has recently had 3 in a week. She was looking for suggestions
for feeding and help.
I am at a loss, so thought the best information that I could get would be
through this group.
Does anyone have suggestions that I might share with her?
