Last Hope has paid for HW treatment, as well as many other medical issues on
GSD's who we were involved with rescuing. Any "Rescue" with the funds that HSUS
has and does not seek medical treatment for the dogs in its care should be
cited for neglect. That being said, I do NOT believe that HSUS actually RESCUES
anything. I know they have affiliations with large Rescue organizations ( I
believe Best Friends Animal Sanctuary)....I have yet to see where HSUS actually
has a Rescue of its own. If anyone KNOWS of a Rescue that is owned and operated
specifically by HSUS....please enlighten me.
There are groups that are researching the donation money that was given during
the Katrina hurricane to HSUS, PETA and others.

ig anyone out there still thinks HSUS has aby redeeming qualities, consider
this:
last month, HSUS had a big gala at one of the local wineries - the tickets
were pricey (over $60 per person) and expenses minimal (much was donated).
they
advertised the event like crazy for months prior and it was very well
attended.
one of the women who works part time at the winery where the gala was held
was asked to pour wine at the event. apparently, HSUS also brought dogs who
were up for adoption. the winery employee, who is elderly and on a fixed
incme,
saw a lab mix and fell in love with her on sight. to make a long story short,
she went to HSUS the next day and adopted "bella". she was told the
bitch
was heartworm positive and would need immediate treatment. this dog had been
with HSUS for over a month and was an owner turn-in!!!!! now i'm sorry,
but why
in the he** is HSUS NOT TREATING MEDICAL CONDITIONS ON THEIR ANIMALS??? any
GSD rescue with which i have been affiliated has ALWAYS done HW treatment
prior to adoption. i know for a fact that Last Hope has had to do many of the
same. this is just more disgusting evidence that HSUS has NOTHING to do with
animals and their care, welfare, whatever word they want to use. it's just
about
the money and that's sure not going to the animals! yes, bella is being
treated, at her new owner's expense, and, fortunately, has a wonderful, new
forever home. money is NOT easy to raise in the current economic mess, but all
of
us "little" people are begging and scraping to get every last dollar
we can to
help rescues, so i'll be da**ed when HSUS can't even treat one little
dog for
HW when they raised tens of thousands at one little event alone!
