Diane, was this the Humane Society of the U.S.??? They don't have any
shelters. So I'm assuming it was a local shelter?
But I agree, one of the projects I would love to get started in, is the
publicizing of the miserable job that the local shelters, animal control does.
They get paid to do this, the amount of animals being brought in decreases on a
continual basis, yet they keep preaching "too many dogs, not enough money"
The overhead on some of these municipal/county shelters is way overboard...not
for the shelter workers, for the administrators. In California, they spend
MILLIONS building state of the art shelters, and don't have the $$ to open them
even. Check how much Sacramento paid for all the ART WORK/ STATUES in front
of their multi-million dollar shelter. Then want fundraisers and volunteers
to pitch in money and work.
