I have always worried about the possible dangers with heat lamps and have
always used a sturdy boiler type heater in the whelping room and adjust temp
according to age, comfort level, etc. My pups have always enjoyed a water
bottle or two (regularly reheated) wrapped in a towel to cuddle up to when Mom
leaves the box.
