I agree wholeheartedly , I would proudly show my boy with his grey Muzzel .
he would be finished had I ever had the $4 to pay a handler as I cannot run
around a ring (even walk fast Anymore) But I guarantee you the coor on my
fur kids is all natural-!! ADn break a Tail ??? how could anyone do a
thing like that ? Horrible No One touches my dogs !-

I've been reading all the threads and, as usual, the topic has gone from a
passionate debate to the inane. How we went from the problem of dyed and
drugged dogs to double handling and, if I followed all the threads,
terrorism, I don't know. I think it is called group hysteria.
I have to agree with Kathy that dyeing has gotten out of hand. If some of
you haven't noticed it or can't see it, be blessed in you naivete. For those
of us who show regulary and still have our eyesite, it is common and
obvious. Yes, there are some terrific hair jobs out there that I would be
hard-pressed to find, but it becomes obvious where six months later you
visit someone in their home and you can't recognize the dog.
The problem has gone from hidding a gray muzzle or blacking a white toenail.
OK, maybe it wasn't too bad when the white star of his or her chest was
removed, but now it is the entire dog. I doubt newcomers have ever heard of
a "bitch stripe," because they've never seen one! And, no, pink is not a
natural color anyplace on a dog. It has gotten to the point, where it is
very difficult to know what the dog or bitch really looks like.
Now, I know some people don't dye there dogs and EVERYONE who has said that
don't has also said their dogs have wonderful pigment. I haven't from anyone
who said there dog is a washed-out black and tan and it took a long time to
finish, but it was worth it.
I'm just now sure how to test. Where -- saddle, toes, checks, muzzle? If we
can find a way, it would be a show-stopper if every dog that was awared a
select agreed to mandatory testing and the select title was taken away if
dyeing was found. No punishment to dog, owner or handler. No accusations as
to who did it. Just not a title. In my opinion, Kathy is 100 percent
correct -- the dyeing would dissappear overnight. At least the most obvious
and deceiving of abuses. As for sho would pay, let the GSDCA pay.
On to drugging -- whether by using stimulants such as caffine or juicing up
dogs with steriods. Again, I'm not sure how to test, but if there was a
test, I'd pay for it. One thing I do know; if someone ever shot my dog up
with steriods or anything else or gave them drugs orally, I would do my best
to destroy their career in dogs. Yes, I know it is done and I've seen it
done.
Breaking of tails. Do it to my dog and I think you better go buy a lifetime
supply of straws and learn to live under the Polar Ice Cap, because that is
the only place I might not find you.
The botton line is that I don't agree with dyeing of dogs, but if everyone
is doing it and I want to play the game, I would consider it. I'm all for
stopping it and would support testing. Then again, I would not consider
dyeing my enire dog or using any chemical that would in any way hurt my dog.
People, in my opinion, who put their dog's health in danger or cause there
dog undo pain and suffering just to show are scum.
