Maggie Marshall I had a bitch in the early 90's that had a hematoma dead center in the ear. My vet lanced and "buttoned" it front to back.....her ear stayed up, she took a BIS the next year. It was caught early, iced well to dry the blood quick then lanced. We left the buttons on for 14 days.
