I just read the minutes on the website and while there was a phone meeting in
April obviously it was short and very limited in content. My guess is that the
normal board weekend is much more productive.
I have been on conference calls and found them best for small groups and
limited content. I found myself having a hard time figuring out who was talking
when. It also made it hard when some of people called from their car, others
were doing chores, or distracted in various ways. I don't know about this April
meeting, but those were my experiences with several clubs.
It helped with video conferencing as you could see the people and they
concentrated better.

OK......I am not a Board member......but we had a couple when I was on the Board
and I did NOT like it. Of course we had them because there were problems
that needed
to be resolved and they were not "regular" Board meetings.
What I didn't like......one Board member trying to argue her case got cut off.
We had our
share of interruptions with people getting bumped off accidentally and you
don't even realize
it at times.....just 'glitches' sort of like the problem you are having with
your posts. AND of
course you have to identify yourself every time you speak......no BIG
problems.....just not a
preferable way to handle meetings IMO. I'm sure the equipment and
capabilities are better
now. I'm sure the Board can 'handle them' including those who do not
like them.

BUT IMO it sure seems easier to save a lot of money by cutting back on the
number of 19
Board members to fly all around the Country and lodge and feed.......??
I do hope the Board can take the time to start the process of looking into this
possibility
whenever they discuss cutting expenses, I never could figure out the need for
that many
and now our membership is even smaller. Over time.....it is always pretty
much the same
issues that get addressed and dealt with. JMO........

i am still wanting to know how ALL board members feel about conference
calls for at least 2 of the 4 board meetings.

vice versa - i don't have time to figure it out and fix whatever it is that

anyway, board members? there are more than 3 of you out there - tell us
what you think about the conference calls.
