My ORIGINAL interpretation of the "limited registration" with AKC was as
Diane says.
If I recall, the dog can do 'WHATEVER' and even become a Champion BUT the
"limited"
is that no offspring from that particular dog can be registered with AKC.
It doesn't pertain

Michel, I am probably wrong and you are right but I thought the limited
registration only prohibited you from showing in conformation .
The AKC gives ILP numbers to dogs without papers so they can compete in
obedience.? I certainly don't see the difference with a

I think the AKC should make the "limited Registration" something where the
owner can participate and receive titles in Obedience, Rally, Agility, etc.
In other words a dog with this type of registration (identified with a
unique set of letters in the number - say LREG) would be able to compete in
all AKC events except BREED.
That should give these owners a real incentive to register with the AKC. I
belong to a local Obedience club and see many owners working very well with
their dogs and then told "sorry you can't show or compete". That is
heartbreaking for some of them.
This approach could easily take off with some very simple and limited
advertising by the AKC.
