And years ago the puppy bitch I bought from Cappy and Gloria was the one
who started the dog fights. She decided that she wanted to be number 1 and
that she needed to eliminate the dog who was number 1. It was all downhill
after that!

I remember years ago, when I stayed the summer at Covy Tucker Hill
Kennels, I was always amazed at Cappy, every morning she would let all the
dogs
out of the kennel and they would all follower her down the hill to the lower
pasture. There was never a fight and there were lots of dogs together. The
had the highest respect for her. She was their pack leader!

was amazed because I never could have done that with mine. It was only 2
at a time out together - one female and one male. And if you made a
mistake you usually paid for it with a fight. And once they fought, that
was
the
end of civility forever. Bitches are the worst.

This is a very real problem. I know because one day 3 years ago, I
didn't
latch the crate for one of my bitches, while I was letting out another
one,
she tore into the one that I had just let out. It was 5 am and I was
getting ready for work. One was the aggressor and the other was just
protecting
herself. I finally got them separated, finally. But when I looked down
at my hands, my finger from the 2nd knuckle up was bitten off, a clean
bite.
Of course it happened while I was trying to separate them. It's a shame,
because now I don't have a finger nail and my fingers are piano perfect
hands, long and beautiful. Well, I was rushed to the hospital by
ambulance
and they stitched it up. But then I had to have another surgery to have
the
nerves implanted into my bone as I couldn't touch anything without an
awful feeling; it was called a neuroma. Even now, I cannot grasp with
that
hand because the fi
nger is missing, and I will always have this as a reminder of trying to
separate 2 bitches that were fighting. I haven't had aggressive bitches
since, which is a good thing, but my finger will never be the same. Dog
fights
are awful, and it is impossible for one person to separate them sometimes
without damage being done somewhere. Awful, just awful and I don't wish
this on anyone. This is the first and only mishap I've had in almost 30
years, and I take every precaution to not let it happen again. Such a
shame.
