Please feel free to cross post to any persons or groups NOT suspected of
having AR ties.if possible. Most of the local rescue groups have been
hi-jacked, so I would recommend steering clear of any rescue ties you may
have until this is over. EVEN though it profoundly affects them as well,
most moderators of rescue lists, and many heads of area rescues have been
brainwashed by the PETA/HSUS rhetoric, and if you breed, show, or even own,
an intact animal, you ARE THE ENEMY right now. I have attempted in the
past few days to open conversational discussions with some of these folks in
the spirit of cooperation. They have been met with silence, or downright
acrid hate. Please crosspost as widely as possible, with care.
Ok.let's clear up a few things so much information is flying and
changing and morphing.. I am not yet a member of Tx-Pet-Law, although I have
a membership request in. If someone IS a member, would you be so kind as to
forward?
Committee meetings do not have a signup process. Only council meetings.
SO, there is NO signup for Monday. Just be there. The "normal" procedure to
speak at committee is to contact one sitting ON the QOL committee, or better
yet the Chairperson' s office and tell them you wish to speak. There is so
signup and speaking is only ALLOWED at the INVITATION of the Chair.
SINCE we already know, due to numbers that NO ONE will be allowed to
speak no one needs to sign up for MONDAY.
SHOW UP ON MONDAY, MAY 28 AT 11:00 AM. Meeting is in the full council
chambers on the 6th floor. We will have folks directing traffic from the
first floor doors. We need to be early since we will have to get through
security.I imagine there will be quite a bottleneck, so we need to be there
early. A list of conduct expected will be distributed on Saturday.and
Zandra has listed it on the TX SHOW DOGS list. If any of you will not be
able to attend Saturday.let me know and I will provide a copy. Dallas City
Hall - 1500 Marilla Street.
ALSO, I DID tell people to sign up for Wednesday this week. That is in
error since there is NO council meeting this week (fifth Wednesday in months
that occurs, no regular meeting is scheduled. SO THE EARLIEST you can sign
up to speak to the council is the 7 of May. EVERY ONE call and sign up.
I'd love to see so many people signed up it would take 12 pages to print
them all. I know at least two people already called and tried to sign up for
Wednesday this week and were told there was no meeting. There is no meeting.
I'm so sorry. I'm just in the "sign up for Wednesday" mode.and didn't think
about this week being the 5th Wednesday. I can't apologize enough for
misleading you when you were doing something so AWESOME!
Also, those of you with dogs out with handlers it might be a good time
to tell them you'd like to see them at City Hall as well. They make as good
bodies as anyone. And they need to part of this.after all I would imagine it
impacts their livelihood as well. Sure wish I knew where the veterinarians
were. IF we had just a FEW MORE PROFESSIONAL people who would get in front
of the council, it would have SO MUCH MORE IMPACT!!!! Ronna
did a fantastic job, and because of her credentials, it MEANT something.
Margaret was also very effective, because she had teaching credentials. We
have all been good speakers.and we need to show the council that the
concerned and potentially affected citizens are a wide cross section of
their constituency. BUT MORE PROFESSIONALS would be a GREAT BENEFIT.
It is IMPERATIVE that EVERYONE show up. I defended a 100 mile radius of
the City of Dallas personally yesterday as I spoke to the City Council as
being impacted by this legislation, and YOU ARE!!! . If you do NOTHING else
in person for this cause.please make MONDAY the day. If you CAN take a day
of
vacation..please DO it. Do it for the future of your dogs. If you DO NOT
WORK, or work from home.please, please, please make the time to come to this
critical meeting. If you do work.PLEASE ATTEMPT TO TAKE A LONG LUNCH and
join us. The AR side is now attempting last minute mobilization and have
widespread emergency alerts out that WE are coming in NUMBERS!!!! The
council has been overwhelmed with our calling and writing campaign. The AR
folks are frustrated because we have obviously FILLED up too many e-mail
boxes and THEIR letters are BOUNCING!!!! Rumor is beginning to surface from
insiders at City Hall if we show up in sufficient numbers THIS
LEGISLATION MAY DIE ON MONDAY!!!! AT WORST, IT IS IN RISK OF BEING TABLED
AND REWITTEN.
GET OFF YOUR BUTTS AND SHOW UP!!!!! WE NEED HUNDREDS OF YOU THERE. WE
SURE AS HELL CAN'T HAVE TOO MANY, but we can have TOO FEW!!! IT'S ONE DAY
OUT OF YOUR LIVES TO DEFEND YOUR PETS!!!! FOR MANY OF YOU, THIS IS YOUR
LIFE'S
PASSION, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, SPEND ONE DAY FOR THE CAUSE. Club
secretaries, please post to your memberships.
In addition, continue to call council members and oppose this
legislation. Or fax. Obviously, many e-mails are already filled up with our
letters!!!!!
CONTACT EACH AND EVERY CLUB YOU ARE A MEMBER OF!!! I EXPECT TO SEE
REPRESENTATIVES AND LOTS OF THEM FROM ALL THREE LOCAL ALL-BREED CLUBS!

deserving of their time, interest and assistance!

Ok, I'm done ranting. I won't yell at any of you any more. I just can't
begin to impart HOW important this meeting is. It's NOT just another
meeting. THIS is one of those CRITICAL moments on which this issue could
turn in our favor. See you all Saturday, and see you all Monday. Black is
the color of choice it is the color we have worn to all the council
meetings. But, we really don't care what you wear, as long as you're there.
