Typically, these dogs, as I said, have washed out of other K9 programs -
sometimes for problems that are very significant in their suitability as canine
companions. Most would have been euthanized at that point were it not for the
need for dogs to detect land mines. They are not usually patrol dogs working as
a K9 partner.
Doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to help all that can be but we do need to
be aware that they probably come with a myriad of significant personality
problems.
