That line was in a song that I like, maybe by Carly Simon. I don't remember. On Saturday evening after the Specialty I was sitting at a round table in the Red Lobster in Beaumont, Texas with Bob and Carol Moore, Karen Rogers, Gene and Joy Baker, Michael Sherman, and Deb Atkinson. It was fun listening to old dog show stories. I remember thinking that the old days were great, but these days are great too. Enjoy. None of us have all that many. Win or lose, enjoy the competition, the camaraderie, the weather, everything. It's a very short ride. Our young 9-12 Bailey/Hayley guy named Hammer took his fifth Best Puppy and went RWD on Saturday under Joe LaRosa, and then went WD for his first points on Sunday under Karen Hynek. Gene Baker stepped in and did a terrific job handling him for Michael in Winners. The twins Trevor and Mason Golden are outstanding Junior Handlers. Joe LaRosa and Karen Hynek both spent time helping them and giving them pointers. Classy folks. The Beaumont Club did a great job. I was driving home thinking that there aren't many ways I'd rather spend a weekend. tom elkins www.firethorntemple.com ============================================================================ POST is Copyrighted 2009.
