Paul is right. ARS were attacking the forest 10-12 years ago… and weren’t
winning there fast enough. So they headed to the country side as started after
towns, counties, where nobody cared - lots of time because there were no pet
stores, big kennels, gestation crates, working their way back up to the State
and to the Fed. They went after little court cases, and then started using the
precedents for bigger more headline (more donations) cases.

About PeTA, Evan. They are the clowns readying the act for PeTA in suits… HSUS
and ASPCA. People are disgusted with PeTA grossness and see other groups as
the ‘sane’ ones, the ones that are more palatable, therefore more believable.

We may always have pets, but perhaps not from a breeder, maybe from a #retail
rescue, because all of the good honest rescues have been unable to keep up with
the #profitrescues.

I don’t have a group.

Jen Proud (bless her!!) is the new GSDCA Legislation Chair and has started her
committee. She doesn’t need $$ (yet!) but she does need people. 3,000
members… there should be 20-30 people knocking at her door asking how they can
help her in their regions!

Subject: [ SHOWGSD-L ] The measure of winning

I am glad to have Paul back. But, I don't think the AR people are winning. On
television, well over half the commercials have dogs or cats in them. That
is commercials not for animal products.

The AR make a lot of noise, but the pet population is more popular than ever,
and there is always a strong reaction to PETA, etc.

In the end, we are still strong, and we still enjoy our animals. No one
seems able to stop that, no matter how much money they have.

Hear us roar.

Evan

With all due respect counselor...it’s about not seeing the forest for the
trees. Your point is “look at all of the trees” and you are right. That
said...the ARO’s are not attacking the “trees” they are doing a right flank
on our forests. They are doing a bang up job at getting the worlds populace
to adapt to their ideologies and it’s working. The NY court case is but one
example...albeit a HUGE example. The ALDF (Animal Legal Defense Fund) and its
offshoots have been around for over 30 years. They have been slowly and
systematically been attacking OUR ideologies through the techniques of feint
and subtrafuge with great success. Take but one example...AKC’s “Limited
Registration” option. This was a counter proposal brought by the ARO’s that
literally reduces a “pure bred” breeds populace by whatever % of breeders
that choose the LR option instead of full registration. It also costs one of
the best suited challengers f ARO ideology millions of dollars they would
otherwise use to fight them.

I am not saying give up...I’ve never said or written such a thought. I am
saying that we are no further ahead of where we were when I left “Da List”
that now. The “Ostrich Syndrome” continues to exist and those whose heads
remain above the sand are not adapting to the best strategies to slow or
defeat the AR ideology. Stormy and her group should be given such funds as it
would take to put themselves and our ideals in front of those would take them
away. That means legislators on every level and those like minded groups with
the resources to move our cause forward.

The ARO’s are not fighting the commercials with our cute pets...but they are
trying to enact laws that will limit or control when, where, or if we can
have those cute pets. They don’t see them as cute pets...they see them as
“prisoners of war” with the Arista’s as the liberators. They are also
incredibly well funded...do you think for a moment those attorneys working
the chimp case in NY are doing it “Pro Bono”?
