Mary and Ileana, that is so extraordinarily kind of you both, you make me
cry.
This lovely little bitch was the victim of a dog dealer in the European
Union. She was
born with the genetic condition of entropion, in all four eyelids. After
her sale, then disappearance,
a dear friend of ours , Piermarco Cosentini, put pressure on the
international community to find her.
The dog dealer finally bent under the immense pressure, and divulged her
whereabouts, claiming there
was nothing wrong with her..ugh. (He routinely ships sick animals )
For anyone that has ever had an eyelash in their eyes, can you
imagine having ALL of them in your eyes, awake or asleep....from birth?
Anyway, long story , shorter...she was rescued very quickly, very quietly,
from an agent of this broker,
so as not to tip him off.
Because we have probably the #1 surgeon in the country for entropion, right
here, it was decided she
would come here. He is also our own vet, and marvelous man..Dr. Butchko.
When we picked her up her eyes were glued with mass of green gunk stuck to
her lids, and she could not see.
Her eyes (the worst case imaginable and VERY RARE in GSDs, anyway) have been
repaired. She looks a bit
like Tammy Faye Baker with the long 13 stitches in each eye, lol. But....
SHE CAN SEE!!!!
There is some corneal scarring, but she can see, and the whole world is an
amazement to her.
Later when she is better, she will be spayed, as this condition is highly
inheritable.

She is a remarkable dog, and we are honored to have her with us.
More remarkable is the entire WORLD of people that have cheered for and
supported her from the
very start, when her sad story came to light. The German Shepherd fancy,
never ceases to amaze us.
