For the record, from what I have seen of the Illustrated Standard project,
which was underway before I came onto the Board so I don't know first-hand
how it originated, there is nothing nefarious going on. There have been
many revisions and adjustments made to the drawings by the Board, most of
whom are specialty judges, and Dave Rinke has also been consulting.
Personally, although I know what I like, since I am NOT a specialty judge, I
generally keep quiet and listen to those who can best critique structure
during the working sessions. The drawings do not look like German-line
dogs, and there are very few photos - most are drawings, of correct and
faulty structure. I understand that they have tried for years to get
something together to replace the current Illustrated Standard, which is
what is given to all-breed judges now. If you haven't seen it, take a look:

If the current project is trashed, and it means going back to the drawing
board, it will undoubtedly take a long time to achieve a finished product.
The Board only meets 4 times a year, and the National meeting is
abbreviated. All the people who work on these are volunteers, so it all
takes quite a while. They have worked very hard, and whether you agree or
disagree with Linda Shaw's philosophical perspective, she and the committee
members have donated a huge amount of time and hard work to try to get this
accomplished. So, whatever you think of it or of how it came to be, is it
not possible to have a discussion without all the rampant paranoia and
accusation ? It is very unfair to the people who are working hard to have
an Illustrated Standard that resembles current-day conformation dogs, and
extremely discourteous besides.

Since nothing is at the point of even considering finalization, there really
was nothing worth showing club members yet. There is nothing about this
that is intended to be top secre[MARGERY GOLANT] t , sneaky or underhanded
- anyone who comes to a Board meeting where this is being discussed is
welcome to review what exists. As Mary Tripp mentioned, she was present
last time, saw it, provided considerable input into it.

Please go look at the current Illustrated Standard, then decide if you
really want to see the current project to replace it die.
