However back to the point that any dog that bites has a temperament issue.
What do you do with a dog at that point? So lets say we have a dog that bites
after you step on it's foot...or startle it as it's sleeping. Do you put it
down? Do you place it in a hope without children and hope that people heed
your
warnings about this dog's bad temperament.
For my 2 cents...
I believe I'd first make an appointment with the vet for a complete check up to
see if the dog had lost its mind. If, perhaps, it had some sort of medical
problem, I'd look into correcting the problem.
If the dog bit me so severly that I required medical attention, I believe I'd
still do the check up, only in the form of a necropsy.
I could not sleep with myself if I pawned off a problem animal on another
person.
I used to work for a vet clinic, and there seems to be tons of people who think
that other people WANT cats that urinate all over the house or dogs that bite.
This type of person can't stomach the idea of putting Fluffy down & rationalize
that he'll be ok if he lives somewhere else. (I've read that in FL people let
their 'pet' snakes & llizards 'run & be free' when they tire of them.. which is
causing a huuuuge mess!) My s-i-l is one of these people.. not letting snakes
loose... taking problem animals to shelters.... grrrrr... makes me crazy! Is
it SO difficult to be responsible??
