Hi all,
I imagine this was expected, but I have to say it wasn't an easy decision.
Good people are leaving the list for reasons that I completely agree with.
I'm sorry to see that others have had to forward their last posts through
other listers, but that only emphasizes the truth about this list's present
administration and the hypocrisy in some people's cry for open communication.
My posts are being moderated. Some might ask how I know this. Here is how y
ou can check your own settings. Go to _www.freelists.org_
(//www.freelists.org/) Go through the sign up process until you are
logged into
freelists, and then scroll on the left side of the screen to showgsd-l.
Select
that and click Select List at the bottom of that box. On the screen that
opens,
click the button that says View Settings. On the right of the screen that
comes up, you will see the words Flags set for you. If below that it says ...
MODPOST User is marked as requiring moderation even when list is not
moderated..... then you are also being moderated. Moderated means your posts
are
being sent to one, some, or all of the administrators, definitely Margy, and
they will not be sent on to the list unless Margy, or an administrator that
Margy has given that power to, decides to let them through.
Most of you know that I have invested my heart into this list, along with
many years of work. I sincerely believe that nothing before has ever come
close to bringing any group's members together as well as the Showgsd-l has.
It
is no small thing that a club's membership which is spread across a country,
a continent, and in fact the world, can sit down in their own homes and be in
such close and instant contact with their peers. I still believe that we,
the original administrators of this list ... Zoe, Margy, Pat, Libby, Lissa,
and myself ... did a good job of anticipating what was coming when we all
started out in this venture. What has it been ... Ten years? That is a
large
piece of anyone's lifetime. We never anticipated that one of us would
eventually have complete control of the list, and apparently forget what that
original intention was.
My thanks to so many of the list members for years of interesting
interaction. Fred reminded me of how many good people are actually out there,
and as
usual he is right. Even though it is not easy, just knowing what this forum
was supposed to be, and seeing what it has become, leaves me with no other
option but to move on. I will leave my last criticism as something I said in
a
previous post. Anyone can start an email list. How it is administered is
what decides whether it will be successful or not.
