The blame always seems to be pointed at the Pro. handlers. If I want to win
at a Futurity or at the nationals I need a pro. handler? I don't think its
our fault at all. We get paid to do a job. The judge in the ring points
the finger to the winner. If your dog is good enough, it should win with or
without a handler.
I think the amateur futurity is a waste of time. This year the one
futurity I went to, it took almost an hour and a half to judge 9-12 dogs
entered.
Some of the people who entered I guess got confused on the time, I am not
sure. The judge and the club did there best to wait and give them time to
get to the ring. Alot, of the entries for the amateur futurity didn't show
up. Same as the nationals, we wait around for the amateur futurity to get
judged, for what maybe a total of 10 entries? Waste of time.
If your or our dogs are good enough, it should be able to win without a
handler. Judges are there to judge the dogs not us the handlers, right.
I am not sure how to get the entries up. I don't have the answer for
that. Where I live, are lets say even la. Miss. and Alabama. between these 3
states not very many people show dogs. I think the economy has a lot to do
with down entries.
We are only 2 months from nationals and don't even have a bitch or male
special yet for the nationals.
And, it does not take a lot of money to get good handlers on your dogs
either.
