It amazes me how many times we see dogs blatantly limping (why the dog is in
the ring in the first place is beyond me) I mean really really limping or
hitching, and it is allowed to continue with the rest of the class. When I
used to judge 4H in Texas (gawd eons ago) I sent a limping Western Pleasure
horse out of the ring, with screaming parents for my reward. The animal was
clearly in pain, and I had pulled him to the center and explained to the
charming
little girl aboard that she needed to go and have her horse looked at, and
that he would probably be fine for the next show. She was fine, but the
PARENTS!! My Lord I thought I would need an armed escort from the place.
This was
one of the top 4H and and AQHA Youth horses in the state.....
But to allow a dog to continue, makes no sense, even when people chalk it up
to Pano or something. Shouldn' t a dog be at the very least set out of the
class for the sake of the dog, and maybe a lesson to the handler from the
judge "Don't bring me a limping or hitching dog?"
